Compassion, has it gone out of style.? The current economical climate doesn't fill us with an enthusiastic sense of optimism, Gas prices, food bills and cost of living increase at a much elevated rate than our income, leaving people feeling like it's an 'Us against Them' situation.. This trend creates a divide amongst communities, an every man for himself environment, where many fundamental morals are forgotten.. We are too busy looking out for number one that we spare little thought for our less than fortunate neighbour.. If you take a step back and weigh the whole picture, we realise more often than not that our personal circumstances aren't so bleak... perhaps we don't have as much spare pocket change than we used to, but is it a reason to lose the communal spirit that our parents tried to instil in us? the love for our brother, the compassion to step up and carry those less fortunate to a better place.. Media culture tells us we need to be tough, it's a harsh world, full of war and struggle, but life is about balance and karmas, and to counteract the hopeless teeth of conflict we need hope, and in the face of defiant hatred we need love, and compassionate qualities that we long forgot how to express.. Being broke should not dictate our attitude towards others.. I know of many a millionaire who is too scared to make friends in the paranoid fear of having to part with his wealth..
Monetary status shouldn't define us..
Family and friends along with our health should feature amongst our highest order of priorities...
Without those, we are quite insignificant.
